Overview

Ennio Giovanetti has been building guitars since 1998 in his Sariano di Gropparello workshop near Piacenza (Italy). He studied guitar making in Milan with Enrico Bottelli, where he got to know many guitars by Antonio de Torres, Simplicio, Garcia, and many others. His guitars are built traditionally but are well recognizable by their own elements.

The REG Limited Edition 2024 guitar emerges from the creative workshop of Ennio Giovanetti, embodying a personal project that focuses on lightweight construction paired with resonant acoustics. Central to its design is an elastic Swiss red spruce soundboard, meticulously seasoned for over 30 years, which was originally owned by the renowned luthier Daniel Friederich. This choice of top wood is complemented by the rich, deep tones of Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides, with a neck crafted from Honduran mahogany and a fretboard of Indian ebony. This combination of premium materials not only ensures a superb tonal quality but also contributes to the guitar's striking visual appeal and playing comfort.

Ennio Giovanetti's 2024 REG Limited Edition guitar serves as a bold tribute to a 1964 Daniel Friederich model, particularly notable for its use of a spruce top—a less common choice compared to the more frequently used cedar in Friederich's designs. This audacious replication reflects Giovanetti's deep admiration for Friederich's work, highlighted by his acquisition of special woods from Friederich’s personal collection following a visit in 2017, after the master had ceased his own guitar-making operations. The resulting instrument captures the quintessence of Friederich's legacy—its balance, power, evenness, and elegance are all reflective of the master’s iconic style, making this guitar not only a performer's dream but also a collector's gem.

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
