About the luthier
Ennio Giovanetti has been building guitars since 1998 in his workshop in Sariano di Gropparello, near Piacenza (Italy). He studied guitar making in Milan with Enrico Bottelli, where he got to know many guitars by Antonio de Torres, Simplicio, Garcia, and many others. His guitars are built traditionally but are well recognizable by their elements. Behind the tie block, for example, a part of the bridge was excavated to optimize the angle of the strings and thus promote vibrations.
About the guitar
The 2025 Ennio Giovanetti guitar with a 64cm scale is an instrument that exudes simplicity and elegance. The dark and timeless Indian rosewood used in its construction is a testament to Ennio’s exceptional taste in selecting high-quality materials for his instruments. The rosette of this guitar is a nod to the traditional Madrilenian design used by renowned guitar makers such as Santos Hernandez and Domingo Esteso in the 1920s. The contrast between the light inner mosaic and the dark outer circles is a stunning visual feature that adds to the guitar’s charm and character. In addition to its striking appearance, this guitar has an exceptional sound quality that complements its aesthetic qualities. Beyond its captivating appearance, this instrument delivers extraordinary sound quality. The tone is powerful, open, and precise, with a remarkable volume that makes it suitable for any performance setting. Its superb playability is ensured by a thoughtfully shaped, comfortable neck that feels natural and effortless in hand. One of the guitar’s most distinctive features is its beautifully designed elevated fingerboard—an uncommon element in Ennio’s creations. This design not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also enhances accessibility and playability in the upper register, making it a truly exceptional concert instrument.
