Overview

This gorgeous French anonymous romantic guitar is a fine example of Mirecourt’s prolific and admirable guitar production. Many exquisite features make this guitar special and fascinating: it has a second spruce top placed in the middle of the body as well as a second oval sound hole at the back. Moreover, an oval ebony inlay above the bridge, placed where the players used to plant their pinkie, is reminiscent of an ancient guitar playing technique. This almost-200-years-old guitar was restored by the accomplished German luthier Bernhard Kresse in 1998 and is since then in perfect playing condition.

The guitar does not wear a label but the rectangular shape of the original label is still noticeable on the wood. This instrument has a beautiful, gracile and yet quite present voice. Lovers of romantic repertoire will enjoy this instrument very much, since it is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also reflects the authentic sound of a time long gone and can be played excellently.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
