Overview
Fritz Ober was born in 1955 and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the '70s based on guitar building books. Later he trained with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner and initially concentrated on the construction of lutes. According to his own statements, the skills he acquired were decisive for his current approach to guitar making, which was inspired primarily by old masters such as Antonio de Torres. His workshop is in Munich.
This instrument from 2003 is a wonderful example of a well-balanced guitar. The selection of the flamed maple for back and sides is excellent and harmonizes wonderfully with the spruce top. With its 1347 grams, the instrument is nice and light and has also a very good and direct response. The sound is harmonious and colorful and develops optimally both with quiet and loud playing. The guitar is in a very good condition and has only traces of playing on the top and back.
