Fritz Ober - 2006

Fritz Ober - 2006

Overview

Fritz Ober was born in Rosenheim in 1955 and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the 70’s based on guitar building books. Later he trained with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner and initially focused on the construction of lutes. According to his own statements, the skills he acquired were decisive for his approach to guitar making, which was inspired by old masters such as Antonio de Torres.

The 2006 Fritz Ober guitar stands as a paragon of expert luthiery, showcasing the pinnacle of craftsmanship in the realm of classical guitars. Maintained in excellent condition with only superficial playing marks, this guitar is as visually appealing as it is acoustically captivating. It features a cedar top, which is notably rare for Fritz Ober instruments, adding a unique richness and depth to its sound profile. The F main body resonance distinctly shapes the character of the basses, lending them a deep, dark, and somewhat mysterious quality. This careful structural engineering allows for a full spectrum of sounds, from the profound and refined bass notes to the trebles that echo with a melodious sweetness. The rounded tone of this guitar, coupled with its extensive range of sound-color possibilities, provides musicians with a unique opportunity to traverse various musical terrains, making it a genuinely versatile instrument.

Playing the 2006 Fritz Ober guitar is an experience that speaks to both the heart and the hands. Known for its remarkable ease of play and tonal balance, this instrument reflects Ober’s famed design ethos. Each note produced is in perfect harmony, illustrating the guitar's responsive and dynamic nature. More than just a fine example of Fritz Ober's craftsmanship, this guitar also carries a sentimental value, revered as one of the most exceptional German guitars of modern times. It embodies a legacy of meticulous craftsmanship and musical excellence, offering a rich and immersive playing experience for those fortunate enough to play it. This guitar not only connects with musicians through its superb playability and enchanting tones but also through the storied tradition it represents, making it a treasured piece for any serious guitarist.

Fritz Ober - 2006 No. 3 Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
