Fritz Ober – 2014

Overview

Fritz Ober was born in Rosenheim in 1955 and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the 70’s based on guitar building books. Later he trained with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner and initially focused on the construction of lutes. According to his own statements, the skills he acquired were decisive for his approach to guitar making, which was inspired by old masters such as Antonio de Torres.

The 2014 Fritz Ober guitar is a testament to the zenith of luthiery, beautifully preserved and showcasing unmatched skill and meticulous attention to detail. Its back, crafted from CITES certified Brazilian rosewood, not only adds to the visual allure but also enhances the sonic depth of the guitar, offering a tonal richness that captivates and delights the senses. The profound E air resonance of this guitar, achieved through its traditional seven fan bracing, allows for a symphony of sounds that enriches every performance. From deep and elegant basses to trebles that resonate with sweet clarity, this instrument encourages musicians to explore a vast array of musical expressions, navigating through soundscapes that are both rare and expansive.

Playing this Fritz Ober guitar is an immersive experience, marked by an exceptional balance of tones and a playability that reflects Ober’s design philosophy. Recognized for crafting some of the most outstanding German guitars in recent times, this particular guitar holds sentimental value as it comes from the last period of Fritz Ober’s distinguished career. • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
