Gerhard Schnabl – 1983 Nr. 330

Gerhard Schnabl – 1983 Nr. 330

Overview

Gerhard Schnabl started his professional carrier as a carpentry apprentice at a young age. But he quickly changed course and started building plucked instruments to become a Master Luthier at the Nuremberg Chamber of Crafts (Handwerkskammer Nürnberg, 1968). He opened his own workshop in 1975 in Bubenreuth and later moved to the neighbouring town of Bräuningshof where he continues to build guitars to the date. His craftmanship is characterized by a consistent traditional building technique and his guitars have been played by renown artists including Manuel Barrueco and Frank Burgarten.

This lightweight guitar made in 1983 bears the number 330 and features a 7-fran bracing traditional construction. The back and sides are made of a striking flamed maple that create a stunning visual display in contrast with the bear-claw spruce top. As a used instrument this guitar in great condition, showing some normal wear which is purely aesthetic and does not affect the sound qualities of the instrument. A film protector has been installed on the top and is considered permanent. fortunately, the nitrocellulose finish adds an extra layer of protection for the most energetic players. The sound is made of creamy trebles, courtesy of the maple and spruce combination, and the basses are smooth and surprisingly deep. Overall, this guitar offers an intimate sound with great projection, coupled with a very fast response that makes articulation an easy task for the player.

Gerhard Schnabl – 1983 No. 330 Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
