About the luthier
Born in Almería in 1974, Gerundino Fernández Llamas is the son of the renowned flamenco guitar maker Gerundino Fernández. From an early age, he assisted his father in the workshop and developed an intimate understanding of tonewoods, tools, and traditional construction methods. After studying the instrument and his father’s professional legacy for many years, he began building guitars professionally in 2015. Working with inherited tools, seasoned woods, and established workshop methods, Fernández Llamas continues the aesthetic and acoustic ideals of a family tradition closely associated with some of the most distinguished flamenco instruments of the twentieth century. His father’s guitars received major international recognition and were played by artists including Paco de Lucía, Paco Peña, Tomatito, Vicente Amigo, and Raimundo Amador.
