Giovanni Tacchi - 2019 ON HOLD

Overview

About the luthier

Giovanni Tacchi is the son of the distinguished Florentine guitar maker Andrea Tacchi. Growing up surrounded by the tradition of fine lutherie, Giovanni inherited not only his father’s techniques but also his refined artistic sensibility. Andrea Tacchi developed his skills in close contact with Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich during the 1980s, later expanding his knowledge through work with Ignacio Fleta, José Luis Romanillos, and Robert Ruck. Giovanni has followed this lineage with dedication, producing guitars that reflect both his heritage and his own artistic maturity.

Giovanni Tacchi’s instruments are characterized by rich tonal color, elegant design, and refined construction. They are crafted with the same passion and precision that define the Tacchi name. His “Garcia” model takes inspiration from historical Spanish instruments and showcases a balance of aesthetic restraint and expressive power. Giovanni continues to establish himself as one of the most promising voices of the next generation of European luthiers.

About the guitar

This 2019 “Garcia” model by Giovanni Tacchi is a beautifully built concert guitar, combining traditional aesthetics with high-level sound performance. The cedar soundboard offers a warm, rounded voice with excellent projection, while the Indian rosewood back and sides add depth and sustain. The visual contrast between the dark body and the naturally aged top gives the instrument a graceful presence, further enhanced by medullary rays and tasteful ornamentation. The hand-crafted rosette and purflings are executed with great precision and artistry.

With a weight of only 1280 grams, the guitar is light and highly resonant, making it especially appealing to players who seek powerful basses and lyrical trebles. The tonal balance evokes an “old world” sound — refined, expressive, and deeply musical. It is well suited for both solo performance and nuanced interpretation of traditional repertoire.

This guitar is in excellent condition, with only minimal playing wear. It has no cracks or repairs. The finish and Alessi tuners are original. The instrument is fully structurally sound and acoustically uncompromised.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
