Giovanni Tacchi - 2020 "Daniel Friederich"

Giovanni Tacchi - 2020 "Daniel Friederich"

Overview

Giovanni Tacchi is the son of the very prominent and talented luthier Andrea Tacchi who makes guitars in Florence Italy. Andrea Tacchi was in close contact with Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich during the 80s, with whom he developed his craftsmanship and his artistic taste. Later on, he kept learning from other important guitar makers such as Ignacio Fleta, José Luis Romanillos and Robert Ruck. Giovanni Tacchi has developed and refined his skills in the most incredible way. His instruments are mature, with a grandiose sound full of color and dynamics. The craftsmanship is on the very highest level.

This Friedrich copy is a fantastic hommage to the French guitar building tradition. Big, firm and bold basses paired with that typical glassy singing trebles that Friederich guitars are famous for. The voices separates gracefully and every note ring like a cathedral. Giovanni Tacchi showed his guitars to master luthier Dominique Field who said that Giovannis instruments sounded "like a Friederich, but younger". What an absolutely amazing compliment from the maestro! When inspecting the guitar the build quality is absolutely fantastic, from the refined carvings of the headstock to the exquisite details of the rosette. Furthermore is the guitar also coloured in the same way that Daniel Friederich sometimes used to do, making the guitar look a bit more vintage. The rosette is also picked up in the inlay work on the bridge, just a lovely detail with a flawless design. A tricky part of the building process is of course the execution of the head plate arrow and the elevations around the tuning holes, Giovanni surely hit the mark with this task. This instrument is a true concert guitar full of vibrant sonority in all the voices.

We believe that this young talented luthier will have an astonishing career in front of him.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
