Giovanni Tacchi - 2020 “Omaggio a Daniel Friederich” No. 18

Giovanni Tacchi - 2020 “Omaggio a Daniel Friederich” No. 18

Overview

Giovanni Tacchi is the son of the prominent and talented luthier Andrea Tacchi who makes guitars in Florence, Italy. Andrea Tacchi was in close contact with Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich during the 80s, with whom he developed his craftsmanship and artistic taste. Later, he kept learning from other influential luthiers such as Ignacio Fleta, José Luis Romanillos, and Robert Ruck. Giovanni Tacchi has developed and refined his skills incredibly. His instruments are mature, with a superb sound full of color and dynamics. The craftsmanship is on the very highest level.

This Friederich copy is a fantastic homage to the French guitar-building tradition. Big, firm, and bold basses paired with the typical glassy singing trebles that Friederich guitars are famous for. The complex voices separate gracefully, and every note ring like a bell. Giovanni Tacchi showed his guitars to master luthier Dominique Field who said that Giovanni's instruments sounded "like a Friederich, but younger". What a fantastic compliment from the maestro! This guitar was built amazingly, from the headstock's refined carvings to the rosette's exquisite details.
Furthermore, this guitar was colored the same way Daniel Friederich sometimes used to do, making the guitar look a bit more vintage. The rosette is also picked up in the inlay work on the bridge, just a lovely detail with a flawless design. A tricky part of the building process is the execution of the head plate arrow and the elevations around the tuning holes. Giovanni indeed hit the mark with this task. As a pre-loved instrument, this guitar is in beautiful condition with only some minor nail marks. This instrument is a concert guitar full of vibrant sonority in all the voices. Moreover, this instrument represents Daniel Friederich's guitars in every possible way.

LOVELY SOUNDING GUITAR by Daniel F... 🤭|The Weekly Guitar Meeting #33 Müller, Füzesi, Tacchi, Cadiz

While this one is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
