Giuseppe Lecchi – 1954
Giuseppe Lecchi – 1954
Overview
Overview
Giuseppe Lecchi was born on 20 August 1895 in Felizzano, Italy. After World War I, during which he had to serve as a soldier, he started working as a violin maker in the workshop of Cesare Candi in Genoa in 1923. In 1929, he registered as self-employed instrument maker but went on working for Cesare Candi at the same time. He opened up his own workshop in Genoa in 1933. The most important year in his career as a violin maker was 1937, when he won the first price in a violin making competition which was dedicated to the bicentennial of Antonio Stradivari. It was the same year in which Giuseppe Lecchi got the opportunity to listen to Segovia’s guitar-playing and later to repair his Ramirez-Hernández. This experience caused Giuseppe Lecchi to dedicate himself to the construction of guitars as well. This guitar by Giuseppe Lecchi does not have any cracks or fissures. The top is made of spruce wood, back and ribs consist of walnut.

Classical Guitar
The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.Look all products of the collection -
