Overview
Ignacio Fleta (1897-1977) is one of the most famous luthiers of the twentieth century. In addition to being a successful guitar maker, he was a recognized bowed and ancient instruments luthier (violins, violas, cellos, vihuelas, and violas de gamba). After his death, his work was continued by his two sons Gabriel and Francisco Fleta, and later by his grandson Gabriel Fleta Jr. The current waiting time for a new guitar is about 20 years which makes these gems immensely sought after.
Fleta guitars always have a certain grandeur when it comes to their tonal qualities, and this magnificent example from 1985 is no exception. It has a powerful, rich tone with great projection. Bright, crystal clear trebles paired with solid and steady basses make for an assertive classical guitar that has the typical and also legendary Fleta sound.
When looking at the guitar, one immediately notices the absolutely stunning rosette, the colours contrasting against the dark brown cedar top. The build quality is impeccable and the overall impression is one of a classic design that ages with style. The condition is great with light playing marks, which is to be expected on a guitar of this age. It has a slightly matte spot on the back where the guitar touches the player's chest. Anyone looking for a guitar that not only has all the qualities desired from a premium instrument that can fill any concert hall with marvelous sonority but is also a piece of history, will be enraptured by this 1985 Fleta.
