Overview
Johannes Kitselis is based in Stockholm, Sweden. He started building guitars in 1984 and later refined his skills learning from the Greek guitar maker Giannis Paleodimopolous. Johannes builds both traditional and double top guitars, with a focus on sound projection, timbre and balance.
In January 2017 Johannes participated at the classical guitar building competition in St. Petersburg, where his guitar received the First Prize, among 23 other classical guitars, for the best sound, playability and craftmanship.
His latest model is the Atmos Concert, with a floating fingerboard inspired by nineteenth century guitars. The string action can be adjusted very precisely through its subtle neck mechanism. If necessary, the neck can even be removed completely for a safe travel. By the way, the body fits in a cabin case which can be ordered separately.
This guitar has not only a unique aesthetic, but also a very special bracing. The latter is relatively traditional and is made of a combination of spruce and cedar. The Wenge wood used for the back and sides is also remarkable. It is a guitar with a very good volume and a warm and elegant tone. The guitar plays very comfortably and reacts well to changes in the hand position, so that you can easily find different timbres.
