Overview
The Ramirez family has been building fine and high-quality guitars since 1882. Their instruments were and are played by some of the greatest guitarists in the world such as Julian Bream, Andres Segovia, Laurindo Almeida, Oscar Ghiglia, Jose Luis Gonzales and many more. The Ramirez family is part of the history of guitar making. Jose Ramirez I (1858-1923) trained a large number of luthiers in his workshop at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century. José Ramirez III (1922-1995) was a precursor in the use of Cedar as wood for guitar soundboards and built several guitars for Andres Segovia.
This 1a model bears the initials AM, representing Antonio Martinez Ortega, who built this guitar in 1969 in Ramirez's workshop. The guitar is in a very nice condition and has no cracks or repairs. There are only some traces of playing on the varnish, which was renewed in the past. The sound of this guitar has exactly the characteristics for which Ramirez guitars have become famous throughout the world. It has a warm and rich sound character with very clearly separated voices and a beautiful overtone range.
