Overview
The Ramirez family has been building fine and high-quality guitars since 1882. These instruments were and are played by some of the greatest guitarists in the world such as Julian Bream, Andres Segovia, Laurindo Almeida, Oscar Ghiglia, Jose Luis Gonzales and many more. The Ramirez family is part of the history of guitar making. Jose Ramirez I (1858-1923) trained a large number of luthiers in his workshop at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century. José Ramirez III (1922-1995) was a precursor in the use of Cedar as a top-wood and built several guitars for Andres Segovia.
Many guitarists enjoy playing on flamenco guitars as these instruments tend to have an earthy sound with a quick response and this Ramirez is no exception. It bears the initials I.M which stands for Ignacio Manzano Rozas who was a renowned luthier working for Ramirez. The condition of this beautiful 1970 Flamenca Blanca is excellent. The top is free of cracks and shows only some minor scratches on the top. There is only a small well-repaired crack on the back. One can not look for a more inspiring guitar soundwise. The timbre is sweet and mellow and strong basses, as well as an intriguing playfulness, make this guitar a very interesting instrument. If you are looking for a traditional flamenco guitar with a charming voice, this one is a keeper.
