Jose Ramirez II – 1935

Jose Ramirez II – 1935

Overview

The Ramirez Dynasty, founded by José Ramirez I, is building fine and high-quality guitars since 1882. In his Madrid-based workshop, José Ramirez I taught a huge number of talented, and now famous, luthiers such as Enrique Garcia, Julian Gomez Ramirez, Antonio Pascual Viudes, his brother Manuel Ramirez and eventually his son José Ramirez II. Following his father's tradition, José Ramirez II was building guitars mostly on the “guitarra de tablao” model: a very light and traditional form of small bodied flamenco guitars.
This very light flamenco guitar was built in 1935 in Madrid by José Ramirez II. It has a spruce top and Spanish cypress back and sides. It is a very responsive small bodied instrument with a direct response and playful colours. The tuning pegs are very good, the guitar is easy to tune and light to handle. This is a very special guitar with a bright, silvery and voluminous tone. The guitar is in overall very good condition for its age. A hard-shell case is included.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
