Overview
After a master in Sociology, Kristof Meeus joined the Centre for Musical instrument Building (CMB) in Puurs, Belgium, in 2006. Working in parallel in Walter Verreydt's workshop, he very quickly gathered solid skills in guitar making. From 2012 on, Kristof started his career as an independent guitar maker. The CMB then recruited him as a teacher in 2016. As did the great painters for centuries, Kristof went for European travel to refine his knowledge and draw inspiration from his predecessor's work. He, therefore, visited the collection of Gabriele Lodi, Lorenzo Frignani, Bruno Marlat, Antonio Marin, Rafael Moreno and many more, getting a global understanding of both the old masters and the modern classical guitar.
This excellent classical guitar is Kristof Meeus' personal concert model. It features a fascinating lattice bracing pattern made of spruce, reinforced by cedar inlays at each crossing to give it strength and flexibility. This guitar's overall look, particularly the rosette, reminds of some Enrique Garcia designs and is appealing to the eye. Conveying a feeling of harmony in its aesthetic, one can also find this quality in this instrument's sound. The response of the soundboard is immediate and develops a mature, velvety sound. Stunning balance and delightful playability finalise the overall excellent picture of this fine guitar.
