Overview
Overview
Luca Santambrogio, born in 1995 in Desio, a small town in the Brianza region of northern Italy, grew up surrounded by a culture of craftsmanship, inspired by the area’s renowned furniture industry. After earning a degree in industrial design, he pursued his passion for lutherie at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano, graduating in 2022. During his studies, Luca trained under master luthier Roberto De Miranda, developing a deep appreciation for classical guitars and traditional Spanish construction techniques. Further refining his skills under the mentorship of Marco Bortolozzo in Milan, Luca honed his focus on lightness, sound quality, and meticulous attention to detail—principles that now define his work. Today, he crafts guitars in Milan, drawing inspiration from Spanish masters like Antonio de Torres and José Luis Romanillos.
Luca’s Romanillos Model is a tribute to the artistry of José Luis Romanillos, combining exceptional sound, elegance, and craftsmanship. The guitar features an Italian alpine spruce top sourced from Val di Fiemme, known for its stiffness and lightness, delivering a warm, rich, and deep tone. The back, sides, headplate, and bridge are crafted from premium Indian rosewood, paired with an African ebony fingerboard atop a Spanish cedar neck. Signature elements include the Romanillos-style “colonnade” rosette, inspired by the architectural patterns of the Córdoba mosque, and a distinctive neck-headstock V-joint. Using only natural wood colors, the rosette incorporates seven wood species for its intricate design. This instrument produces a resonant voice, with an E/F body resonance that enriches the warm basses while allowing the trebles to project with clarity and brilliance. Luca’s holistic approach ensures that every part of the guitar vibrates harmoniously, creating a balanced and expressive tonal palette.
