Marco Dissegna - 2024 REG 2024 Limited Edition

Overview

Marco Dissegna is an esteemed luthier renowned for his traditional yet contemporary approach to guitar-making. His fascination with music and musical instruments inspired him to pursue a career in lutherie, with a dream to create instruments that could bring the art of music to life. His journey began at the Scuola di Liuteria di Pieve di Cento, where he got his initial training. After that, from 2011 to 2015, he attended the Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano in the plucked instruments section. It was during this time that Dissegna began to develop his own unique approach to the craft. Post-graduation, he had the opportunity to work under the expert guidance of two master luthiers, Aldo Illoota and Lorenzo Lippi. These experiences refined Dissegna’s technique and heightened his appreciation for the art of guitar-making. In 2020, Dissegna took the bold step of opening his own workshop in Mestre, Venice. Here, he devoted himself to the construction of classical guitars, focusing on crafting instruments that are both comfortable and dynamic for contemporary guitarists. Dissegna’s building techniques, while rooted in tradition, also reflect the needs of modern guitarists. He draws inspiration from both past and present masters, maintaining the classic timbre of the guitar while embracing contemporary design elements. When it comes to materials, Dissegna uses only the best. His preference for wood extends beyond the structure of the guitar to its decorations. Italian spruce forms the soundboard, Indian rosewood composes the back and sides, cedrela makes up the neck, and ebony is used for the fingerboard. These carefully chosen materials culminate in an instrument that not only looks exquisite but also produces a sound of exceptional quality. The finishing touch is the hand-rubbed shellac, a testament to Dissegna’s dedication to maintaining the time-honored traditions of lutherie. From his fascination with musical instruments to his distinctive construction techniques, Marco Dissegna’s journey as a luthier reflects a seamless fusion of passion, tradition, and innovation.

Marco Dissegna's Limited Edition REG 2024 guitar combines traditional luthiery with modern requirements, making it well-suited for contemporary musicians. The instrument features a red cedar soundboard chosen for its responsive qualities across a wide range of frequencies, complemented by flamed ebony for the back and sides to enhance rigidity and sound projection. Its construction includes a 7 fan bracing pattern, designed to support a dynamic playing experience and ensure ease of playability for nuanced performances. In terms of design, Marco has added custom purflings that highlight the contours of the back and sides, along with finely crafted Alessi tuning machines and a shellac finish, which underscore his meticulous approach to guitar making.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
