Overview
Michael Cadiz is a Seattle, Washington, native, who moved his workshop to Graz, Austria, in 2016. He built his first guitar at the age of 15. He feels profoundly grateful for Robert Ruck, who invited him to stay for a while in his workshop to share his philosophy and approach to guitar building and from whom he learned a lot. Furthermore, he also received a great support from the Seattle builders Rick Davis and Greg Oxrieder. In 2016, he moved his workshop to Graz, Austria, where he successfully build guitars ever since.
This lovely guitar number 87 comes straight from Michael's workshop. It is the first Récital model that we receive from him, and we are absolutely delighted by its look and sound. Designed as a price-efficient model, yet fulfilling all requirements of a genuine concert guitar, this instrument has plenty of interesting features. First, the combination of bear claw spruce top and lightweight London Plane back and sides is fabulous. This rather uncommon wood was doubled with cypress on the sides to give extra rigidity and projection yet keeping a very low mass. Moreover, the walnut bridge was also picked for its lightness, and the result is an overall light, responsive and modern guitar with a unique, appealing look. The neck, back, and sides have a coat of satin shellac finish, very easy to take care of, and the soundboard is French polished. With Gotoh Premium tuners and Michael's recognizable intricate geometric rosette, this guitar is an absolutely gorgeous guitar at a very attractive price.
With its punchy mid-range, demonstrative basses, and lyrical trebles, this guitar is surely a highlight in its price category. Moreover, sympathetic resonances give the trebles remarkable richness, and the combination of London Plane and spruce works just wonderfully. Finally, this instrument satisfies the highest level of comfort and playability thanks to its elevated fingerboard, which makes it ideal for any enthusiastic guitarist.
