Overview
On the 24th May, 2008 the English luthier Michael Gee celebrated his 50th birthday and simultaneously his 30th year of being a luthier. On this occasion he built four special guitars. Three made of rosewood and the last one - completed in 2012 - made of bird’s eye maple with a fantastic top made of hazel spruce, which was given to him by his mentor Herbert Schwarz. This guitar has some more features:
- the characteristic headstock with the typical Gee silhouette is “punched” on the front, where one elliptical spot between the tuning machines has been left untreated. This resembles the instruments of “Hernandez y Aguado”, which influenced Michael’s work.
- the outstanding label was specially made by Michael’s daughter Charlotte.
- the special tuning machines by David Rogers shows the engraving “30”
- the strings are tied with knobs made by Paulino Bernabé
