Michael Wichmann - 2016 Flamenca negra

Overview

Michael Wichmann is an experienced luthier who has dedicated his life to refining the art of guitar making. He discovered his love of guitar making at the age of 25 and has been working to improve his skills for over 40 years. Early in his career, he travelled throughout Europe to learn and teach in various workshops. Wichmann was taught by accomplished guitar makers and gained valuable experience in about 20 workshops. In the early 1980s he started a unique and ambitious project: he travelled through Spain, France and Portugal with a "Mobile Guitar Workshop". This mobile workshop allowed him to share his expertise with a wider audience and to present his skills in new settings. Wichmann eventually settled in Hamburg, Germany, where he opened his first workshop. Over the years, he has established a reputation as a skilled luthier, producing replicas of historic instruments and his own concert models. His attention to detail and commitment to quality have made him a sought-after guitar maker within the community.

This 2016 Flamenco model is a masterpiece that demonstrates the luthier's exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. It is a stunning instrument built with premium, CITES-certified Brazilian rosewood and fine cedar. The guitar is in excellent condition with only a few superficial signs of playing. It is very versatile and can be played in both flamenco and classical styles, making it a suitable instrument for guitarists who like to cover several genres with one instrument. Due to its distinguished response and long sustain, this 2016 Wichmann has a percussive and at the same time singing vibe. Its broad, multi-faceted sound is the result of careful material selection and precise workmanship applied to the instrument. • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
