Overview

Karl-Hermann Schäfer or previously known as Nicolaus Wollf, started making guitars in 1966. He did his apprenticeship under the guidance of master guitar maker Ernest Köröskeny and later studied under master guitar maker Dieter Hopf. After having worked in Hopf’s workshop from 1971 to 1994, he opened his own in Oberneisen and moved to Niederbrechen, Germany, five years later. Karl-Hermann Schäfer has specialized in making the most wonderful replicas one could wish for. These instruments are not only well built, but they also offer the very authentic sound of master instruments of the past.

This 2017 Nicolaus Wollf guitar is constructed using a carefully curated blend of materials, this high-quality instrument leverages the sonorous properties of a spruce soundboard and Indian rosewood for the back and sides. Acoustically, the 2017 Nicolaus Wollf guitar exhibits a scientific blend of sophistication, depth, and elegance, characteristics that are the hallmarks of superior musical instruments.

The guitar's tonal range encompasses resonant bass notes due to its F/F# main resonance and treble tones, both smooth and crisp, achieving an expansive sound spectrum. The instrument's construction utilizes precise artisan techniques to instill an inspiring aura that, paired with its extended sustain, sets it distinctively apart in the world of high-end classical guitars.

As a previously cherished instrument, this guitar remains in very good condition, displaying only a few play indications but with no structural complications.

In essence, the 2017 Nicolaus Wollf guitar transcends its role as a musical instrument and serves as an enduring testament to the precision of expert craftsmanship and the pursuit of acoustic excellence.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
