Paulino Bernabé - 1984 66 cm

Overview

P. Bernabé Sr. (* 2. Juli 1932 in Madrid; † 10. Mai 2007 Madrid) was one of Spain's greatest and most renowned luthiers. Before he founded his first workshop in 1969, where he worked with his son Paulino Jr. from the 1980s onwards, Paulino Sr. worked in José Ramirez III’s workshop in the 1950s and 1960s. Bernabé guitars are still played in major venues all around the world today. For instance, Thibaut Garcia, the 2016 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) competition winner, has been playing on a Bernabé for several years.

Introducing the exquisite 1984 Paulino Bernabe guitar, a true testament to the mastery of the renowned luthier, Paulino Bernabé Sr. Crafted during a time when Bernabé Sr. worked independently in his workshop, this guitar is both an extraordinary musical instrument and an intriguing work of art. In good condition despite some playing marks on the top, this guitar bears the signs of being a well-loved and cherished instrument. The back and sides are constructed from stunning Brazilian rosewood, CITES certified, and showcase an intricate pattern of parallel orange-black veins that add to its visual appeal. While there is one glued crack on the back and another on the side, both have been stabilized and do not detract from the instrument's remarkable sound quality. As a prime example of the Madrid guitar-making school, this 1984 Paulino Bernabe guitar boasts a powerful and distinct character. Its romantic trebles harmoniously blend with the dark and haunting basses, creating a captivating and unforgettable auditory experience. This exceptional guitar is an embodiment of fine craftsmanship, tradition, and the passion of its creator.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
