P. Bernabé Sr. (* 2. Juli 1932 in Madrid; † 10. Mai 2007 Madrid) war einer der größten und bekanntesten Gitarrenbauer aus Spanien. Bevor er 1969 seine erste Werkstatt gründete, in der er seit den 1980er Jahren mit seinem Sohn Paulino Jr. zusammenarbeitete, arbeitete Paulino sen. in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren in der Werkstatt von José Ramirez III. Bernabé Gitarren werden auch heute noch an wichtigen Orten auf der ganzen Welt gespielt. Thibaut Garcia zum Beispiel, der Gewinner des Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Wettbewerbs 2016, spielt seit einigen Jahren auf einer Bernabé.
Das Especial-Modell ist eine der charakteristischsten Gitarren aus dem Hause Paulino Bernabe. Es handelt sich um eine erstklassige Konzertgitarre, die alle Eigenschaften eines großen Instruments vereint und einen brillanten, kraftvollen Klang, ein überaus breites Spektrum an Klangfarbenmöglichkeiten, einen großen Dynamikumfang und eine hervorragende Spielbarkeit bietet. Die Zargen des Especial-Modells sind innen mit Zypresse gedoppelt, und die Decke hat eine typische traditionelle Bernabe-Beleistung. Die Hölzer wurden nach den anspruchsvollsten Kriterien ausgewählt und das Setup bietet einen idealen Komfort für die linke Hand. Es ist definitiv ein etabliertes Modell unter professionellen Gitarristen und gerade diese Gitarre zeigt, weshalb die Gitarren von P. Bernabe zu den besten spanischen Instrumenten gehören.
