Richard Jacob Weissgerber - 1929 28.5/5.

Overview

Richard Jacob “Weissgerber” was one of the most creative, innovative, and certainly the most versatile guitar makers of the 20th century. Neither in Germany nor in the world has there been or is there any other master whose work, in its multiplicity, would be comparable to that of Richard Jacob. The variety of his guitar models, shapes, and designs are unique.

This fine instrument is a treasure for guitarists and collectors who deeply appreciate guitar history. The precise craftsmanship shows that this instrument was built with a tremendous acoustic understanding and tasteful aesthetic. It is genuinely where engineering and art meet. This guitar from 1929 is in very good condition, apart from two well-repaired hairline cracks on the spruce soundboard. One is between the soundhole and the bridge, and the other one is between the bridge to the lower bout. The repair was done professionally with several tiny cleats underneath, which are stable. The beautifully flamed maple back and sides enhance the minimalistic approach to the aesthetic of this guitar. Acoustically, every note on all registers has exceptional clarity. One can easily hear all the quality and colors of this amazing instrument.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
