Richard Jacob “Weißgerber” was one of the most creative, innovative, and certainly the most versatile guitar maker of the 20th century. Neither in Germany nor in the world has there been or is there any other master whose work, in its multiplicity, would be comparable to that of Richard Jacob. The variety of his models, shapes, and designs is unique.
Richard Jacob Weissgerber built this splendid guitar in 1920 following the example of a model built by Johann Knößing in 1804. He used the best materials for this guitar, chose a beautiful spruce wood for the top and beautiful rosewood for back and sides. This highly ornate model displays an abundance of subtle details that make it unique and valuable.
The playability of this guitar is perfect and its sound is just remarkable. Here Weissgerber proves the extent of his genius by creating a fairly small guitar with such a full sound. Its sounds is clear and precise, with exceptional delicacy and balance. Moreover, this instrument is truly in perfect playing condition and offers the guitarist great playing satisfaction with rich timbres and a unique character. Finally, it is in excellent condition for its 100th anniversary this year, with only two perfectly repaired cracks on the top and two on the sides. The pegs are original and in perfect condition, and this guitar comes with its original fitting case.
