Overview
Retracing the history of the Mirecourt craftsmen is quite a challenge. The Mircourt craftsmen, after about ten years of apprenticeship, where leaving Mirecourt to make room for the new apprentices. From then, they could go to specialized workshops as Petitjean, Marcard, Roufhloff, Coffe-Goguette, etc. or going to other workshops that where building under the name of shops located in big cities such as Paris, London, Lyon, Bordeaux, etc. The third way, chosen by Mr. Rigondeau, was to create its own workshop in another small town. Rigondeau finished his career in La Rochelle, France, where this guitar was built with in the Mirecourt tradition.
This tierce guitar built around 1825 is a particularly refined and decorated instrument. It has a very fine-grained spruce top and appealing ash burr back and sides. The very comfortable ebony veneered neck is V-joined to the head plate and is perfectly straight. It is a ready-to-be-played tierce guitar with and amazingly sweet and powerful sound, that will fit any romantic chamber-music concert player.
