Simon Marty - 2024

Simon Marty - 2024

Overview

In 1984, Simon Marty was given a grant from the Australian government to use advanced research methods (laser holography and computer finite element analysis) to explore and develop his design innovations. Simon Marty began building guitars in 1982 because, as a guitarist, he was interested in exploring new approaches to luthiery that could lead to significant improvements in sound performance. The results of these endeavors were powerful-sounding, responsive, and well-balanced instruments. His guitars are played by many well-known guitarists such as Anabel Montesinos, Scott Tennant, Mak Grgić, Slava Grigoryan, Marco Tamayo, and many others.

The 2024 Simon Marty guitar exemplifies the pinnacle of luthier craftsmanship, echoing the mastery and seasoned design techniques of its creator. This instrument is known for its resonant volume and distinctive sound profile, characterized by solid trebles and booming basses that come together to produce a thick, dense, and incredibly robust sound. Marty’s ceaseless pursuit of perfection is evident in every aspect of the guitar, making it not just an instrument but a testament to the art of guitar making.

This brand-new guitar showcases a superbly crafted Cedar top, chosen for its uniform grain and extraordinary resonance, complemented by striking Wenge wood for the back and sides. This exotic combination not only enhances the guitar’s visual appeal but also enriches its tonal quality, adding a unique color that elevates both its aesthetics and acoustic performance. Owning a Simon Marty guitar, known for the long waiting list due to the luthier’s exceptional reputation, is a significant achievement and a privilege for a lifetime. Fresh from his prestigious workshop, this 2024 model stands as an elusive gem, poised to become the crown jewel in the collection of any discerning guitarist.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
