Stephen Hill - 2022 No. 2a/01 64 cm

Overview

Stephen Hill is an English guitar maker based in Granada, Spain. In his inspiring career, he evolved from a talented flamenco guitarist to one of the most interesting and best builders of Spanish guitars on the market today. His inspiration came from legendary guitar makers as well as legendary guitarists with whom he built close relationships and friendships. Among others, one can mention Antonio Marin Montero, Paco Pena, Manuel Reyes, etc. Stephen Hill crafts fantastic Spanish guitars, but also shares his passion and knowledge with some talented students, from whom we have also received some very skillfully worked guitars.Stephen Hill offers a limited and exclusive production of his 2a guitars, built under Hill's complete direction in his own workshop by his experienced assistants. Only 6 per year are made. These guitars are built using excellent materials and are fully french polished. The 2a model is an outstanding opportunity to have a professional quality concert guitar built along the same lines as Stephen Hill 1a instruments. Each guitar is personally set up by Stephen Hill, individually voiced, and fine-tuned to produce a perfect instrument for concert use.

This Stephen Hill 2a/01 from 2022 was built traditionally and is a proper concert instrument in any regard. It provides enough power for the guitarist to play with little effort on the right hand. The tone of this guitar allows broad possibilities for the guitarists to express themselves.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
