Alí Arango

Alí Arango

Alí Arango stands among the most dynamic and forward-thinking classical guitarists of his generation. Born in Cuba, he has captivated international audiences with a rare combination of technical brilliance, emotional depth, and artistic curiosity. His interpretations balance tradition and innovation, making him a distinctive voice in the modern guitar world.

Arango began his musical journey at the National School of Art in Havana, where his talent quickly drew attention. Mentored by Leo Brouwer, one of the most influential figures in contemporary guitar, he developed a unique style defined by clarity, expressive nuance, and imaginative phrasing. Masterclasses with David Russell and Manuel Barrueco further refined his artistry.

His success on the international stage includes first prizes at leading competitions such as the Havana International Guitar Competition, the Gredos San Diego Competition in Madrid, the Narciso Yepes Competition, and the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition. These distinctions reflect both his technical mastery and his interpretive insight.

As a soloist, Alí Arango has performed in major concert halls and festivals across the globe, presenting a repertoire that ranges from Baroque to contemporary music. His playing blends the precision of the classical tradition with the vitality of modern interpretation, often featuring works by Bach, Tárrega, Villa-Lobos, and Brouwer, alongside his own arrangements and compositions.

Arango’s recordings, including A Day in November and The Art of Guitar, have been praised for their clarity, expressive power, and innovative programming. Each project reflects his deep respect for the instrument and his ongoing dialogue with its evolving repertoire.

Beyond his concert career, Alí is a dedicated educator who shares his knowledge in masterclasses and international festivals, inspiring young guitarists to discover their own artistic voices. His mentorship and passion for innovation continue to shape the next generation of performers.

With new recording projects and international tours ahead, Alí Arango remains a visionary presence - an artist who redefines what classical guitar can express in the 21st century.

Your next step is a real classic

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
