Alí Arango

Alí Arango is one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking classical guitarists of his generation. Born in Cuba, he has captivated international audiences with a distinctive blend of technical brilliance, emotional depth and artistic curiosity. His interpretations balance tradition and innovation, positioning him as a unique voice in today’s guitar landscape.

He began his musical education at the National School of Art in Havana, where his early talent soon became evident. Under the mentorship of Leo Brouwer, he developed a style shaped by clarity, expressive nuance and imaginative phrasing. Masterclasses with David Russell and Manuel Barrueco further refined his artistry.

Arango has won first prizes at major competitions including the Havana International Guitar Competition, the Gredos San Diego Competition in Madrid, the Narciso Yepes Competition and the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition. These awards highlight both his technical mastery and interpretive insight.

As a soloist, he has performed in leading concert halls and at international festivals around the world. His repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary music, blending classical precision with modern vitality. His programmes often include works by Bach, Tárrega, Villa-Lobos and Brouwer, alongside his own arrangements and compositions.

His recordings, including A Day in November and The Art of Guitar, have been praised for their clarity, expressive range and thoughtful programming. Each project reflects his respect for the instrument and his engagement with its evolving repertoire.

Beyond the stage, Arango is an active educator who shares his expertise through masterclasses and international festivals. His teaching encourages young guitarists to cultivate their own artistic identities.

With upcoming recording projects and concert tours, Alí Arango continues to shape the expressive possibilities of the classical guitar in the 21st century.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
