Christian Lavernier was born in Imperia on July 27, 1979. He began his classical guitar studies with Mario Senise, who prepared him for admission to the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he graduated with excellence in the class of Paolo Chierici. He attended masterclasses with leading figures of the international guitar scene, including Alirio Diaz, Conrad Ragossnig and David Russell, and deepened his exploration of contemporary music with Angelo Gilardino. Lavernier has taken part in numerous national and international competitions, among them the Concorso Internazionale Joannes Brams, Concorso Internazionale Francesco Forgione, Concorso Nazionale Isole Borromee and Concorso Internazionale Paul Harris, winning first prize in all of them.

He has performed at major festivals worldwide, including Elise Saìnt-Martìn d’Etiolles in Paris, the Accademia Internazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Festival Internazionale della Chitarra di Cieux in Limoges, the Festival Internazionale Andrés Segovia in Linares, the Aldorf Spring Festival in Switzerland, the Guitar Festivals of Ceuta, Málaga and Vilches in Spain, and the Festival Stagione dei Concerti di Villa Durazzo in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy. Further engagements include the Palazzo della Chitarra in Tokyo, the International Guitar Academy Yokohama, the Sapporo International Guitar Festival, the International Guitar Academy Muroran, the International Guitar Festivals of Morelia, Queretaro and Zamora in Mexico, the International Guitar Festival Magnitogorsk in Russia, the Clarke Recital Hall in Miami, the Festival International de la Guitarra in Burgos, the International Guitar Festival Ciudad de Bolivar in Venezuela, the National Library in Santa Fe, Argentina, and the Festival Guitarra al Centro in Córdoba, Argentina.

Lavernier has recorded concerts for broadcasters in Italy, France, the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, Argentina, Japan and Russia. As an interpreter he has collaborated with notable composers such as Azio Corghi and Alberto Colla. Alongside an active international concert career, he teaches masterclasses at leading academies and universities, including the conservatories of Ceuta and Linares in Spain, the Conservatoire De la Rosa in Mexico, the University of Miami Frost School of Music in the United States, the Guitar Academy Yokohama in Japan, the National University of Litoral in Santa Fe, Argentina, and the conservatory in Úbeda, Spain.

He is regularly invited to serve on juries at major international competitions, including the International Guitar Competition Morelia in Mexico, the Concorso Internazionale Joannes Brams in Acqui Terme, Italy, the International Andrés Segovia Competition in Linares, the International Guitar Competition Vilches in Spain and the International Guitar Competition Magnitogorsk in Russia. For ten years he was Artistic Director of the international festival “Piani musicali”.
