Laura Snowden is one of the most influential and forward-thinking guitarists of her generation. Celebrated for her expressive performances, original compositions, and dedication to expanding the classical guitar repertoire, she bridges tradition and innovation with rare artistry.
Born in the United Kingdom, Laura discovered her passion for music at an early age and studied classical guitar at the Royal College of Music in London with Gary Ryan. Her exceptional talent was recognized by Julian Bream, who personally selected her to perform in his Julian Bream Trust concerts — an honor that marked the beginning of her international career.
As both performer and composer, Laura brings a distinctive voice to the classical guitar. She has appeared at major venues including Wigmore Hall, King’s Place, and the Royal Albert Hall, presenting programs that combine sensitivity, precision, and imaginative interpretation. Her compositions, inspired by folk traditions and contemporary classical music, have been widely acclaimed for their lyrical beauty and emotional depth.
Her repertoire spans from Bach and Rodrigo to Leo Brouwer and Benjamin Britten, as well as her own works and premieres by living composers. In chamber settings, Laura collaborates with vocalists and instrumentalists, enriching her performances with warmth and nuance.
Alongside her concert career, Laura is a dedicated educator. She teaches guitar and composition at the Yehudi Menuhin School and gives masterclasses worldwide, encouraging young musicians to find their own artistic voice through curiosity and creativity.
