Laura Snowden
Laura Snowden is regarded as one of the most influential and forward-thinking guitarists of her generation. Celebrated for her expressive performances, original compositions and commitment to expanding the classical guitar repertoire, she combines tradition and innovation with rare artistic clarity.
Born in the United Kingdom, she discovered her passion for music at an early age and studied classical guitar with Gary Ryan at the Royal College of Music in London. Her exceptional talent was recognised by Julian Bream, who personally selected her to perform in his Julian Bream Trust concerts, marking the beginning of her international career.
As both performer and composer, Laura brings a distinctive artistic voice to the classical guitar. She has appeared at major venues including Wigmore Hall, King’s Place and the Royal Albert Hall, presenting programmes that combine precision, sensitivity and imaginative interpretation. Her compositions, influenced by folk traditions and contemporary classical music, are known for their lyrical beauty and emotional depth.
Her repertoire ranges from Bach and Rodrigo to Leo Brouwer and Benjamin Britten, alongside her own works and premieres by living composers. In chamber music settings, she collaborates with vocalists and instrumentalists, enriching her performances with nuance and warmth.
Alongside her concert activities, Laura is an active educator. She teaches guitar and composition at the Yehudi Menuhin School and gives masterclasses internationally, encouraging young musicians to develop their artistic voice with curiosity and creativity.
She is currently preparing new recording projects featuring classical repertoire and original works, further reinforcing her role as an artist shaping the future of the classical guitar.
