Achim Peter Gropius - 2022 Doubletop 64 cm

Achim Peter Gropius - 2022 Doubletop 64 cm

Overview

Achim-Peter Gropius was born on February 25th, 1967, in Berlin, where he received his first guitar lessons at age 9. After finishing secondary school, he decided on an apprenticeship as a guitar maker and began his training at the violin-making school in Mittenwald in 1991, where he received his diploma in 1994. Achim-Peter Gropius then worked at Max Strohmer's workshop in Nuremberg. In December 1994, he moved to Reutlingen, where he worked for a master violin-maker, restoring instruments of the violin family. During this time, he continued developing his own instruments, which led him to establish his own workshop in August 1996. Two years later, in February 1998, he passed the examination as a master luthier. Since then, his instruments have enjoyed a growing reputation amongst players in Europe, Asia, and the USA.

This guitar from 2022 has a spruce double-top soundboard and Vietnamese rosewood back and sides. The premium materials were handpicked and aged with good care by Achim-Peter Gropius himself. Thanks to its 640 mm scale, this guitar is a dream to play. The playability is second to none. It is incredible how little effort is needed to make this guitar sings. The strong trebles respond very quickly and project well; meanwhile, the deep basses resonate throughout the whole guitar, which makes this guitar very satisfying to play.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
