About the luthier
Adrien Savary-Freestone is a French luthier whose career is rooted in both traditional woodworking and refined instrument making. After training in cabinetmaking in Paris, he moved to Newark, England, to study lutherie, followed by a specialization in classical guitar and lute making at the CMB in Puurs, Belgium. There, he learned from master makers Walter Verreydt and Dirk de Hertogh. His fascination with historical instruments led him to work with the Parisian lute maker Wolfgang Früh, further enriching his expertise in the construction of finely crafted plucked instruments.
Working from his workshop in Vincennes, near Paris, Savary-Freestone creates guitars inspired by the great traditions of Torres, Arias, Bouchet, and Lacôte. His approach combines historical insight with modern construction techniques. In 2023, he was awarded a prize at the prestigious Antonio Marín Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada—an accolade that affirms his rising prominence in the field of contemporary lutherie.
About the guitar
This 2025 lattice model, numbered 23, reflects Adrien Savary-Freestone’s pursuit of tonal richness, clarity, and refinement. The cedar soundboard is supported by a carefully designed all-wood lattice bracing that brings out the natural warmth and responsiveness of the material while enhancing its dynamic range. The result is a voice with excellent sustain, complex overtones, and great separation—ideal for tonal shaping and expressive nuance.
The back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, a time-honored tonewood chosen for its depth, projection, and balance. The entire guitar is finished in hand-applied French polish, preserving the acoustic properties of the wood and revealing its natural beauty. With an air body resonance between F# and G, the instrument offers a strong, supportive tonal foundation, well suited to both solo and ensemble settings.
Designed with the modern concert guitarist in mind, this guitar features a 650 mm scale and 52 mm nut, offering a familiar and responsive feel. It weighs 1520 grams and balances naturally when played, providing a secure and comfortable playing experience. Equipped with Perona tuners and Knobloch EDC 34.0 strings, this guitar is ready to meet the demands of refined musical expression in any context.
