Overview

Charalampos Koumridis is a Greek guitar maker and self-taught luthier. Being a craftsman before getting into guitar construction was a great help to soon develop into an accomplished guitar maker. He made his first classical guitar for his daughter and immediately fell in love with the art of guitar making and the history of the classical guitar. Over the years, after extensive study of both the traditional Spanish concept and modern constructions, Koumridis developed his own sound using three different models: Traditional, Lattice and Double-Top.

This traditional model from 2021, number 174, has a thin spruce top with an elaborated seven fan bracing, strongly reminiscent of the pattern used by Daniel Friederich in the late 1960s. Back and sides are made of colourful Indian rosewood, which, combined with the numerous inlay details, gives this guitar a unique and joyful character. In terms of sound, this instrument is impressively powerful and responsive. The tonal spectrum is extensive and when playing, the guitarist will receive clear feedback from this guitar. Playability is impeccable, and the raised fingerboard is most comfortable and useful for the left hand.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
