Daniel Füzesi - 2016

Overview

Daniel Füzesi is a Hungarian guitar maker who completed his four-year training as a luthier at the instrument making school "Centrum voor Muziekinstrumentenbouw" in Puurs (Belgium) with the highly respected Belgian luthier Walter Verreydt. He was also taught the art of lute making by Dirk De Hertog. In Puurs he participated in the "Leonardo Guitar Research Project" for which information was collected on the use of non-tropical woods in guitar making.

As part of this project, he had the opportunity to do an internship at Thomas Holt Andreasen's workshop in Granada, Spain. Since then, Daniel has been an enormously valued member of the Siccas Guitars team, taking care of all guitars in need of minor repairs as well as major restorations with great skill, expertise, and attention to detail. In addition, of course, he also builds beautiful guitars.

This instrument is the guitar built in 2016 by Daniel Füzesi as part of the Leonardo project. The main goal of the Leonardo guitar research project is to study, demonstrate, and communicate the possibilities of building acoustic and classical guitars from non-tropical woods. This guitar is therefore built exclusively from non-tropical woods and features a beautiful top made of Italian spruce and back and sides made of Robinia. The bridge is made of very special golden rain wood, also known as Laburnum, and the neck is made of alder. It is very easy to play and open sounding guitar with a very characteristic woody and earthy sound. The treble sounds clear and easily variable in terms of timbre and dynamics. The overall balance of the guitar is extremely pleasant, and the sound quality of this instrument is undoubtedly on par with a master guitar made of tropical rosewood.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
