Overview
Daniel Lesueur (1933-2021) was a particularly renowned French guitar maker. He was befriended with Daniel Friederich when the latter was still working as a carpenter in Paris and became his apprentice at the age of 39. His guitars quickly gained international interest and many professional guitarists chose his instruments. In the 1980s, his fame was at its peak, and he was awarded the prestigious title of "Meilleur ouvrier de France" (Best Artisan of France). We were saddened to hear of his passing this year and are honored to present this guitar from his heyday to our collection.
Built in 1986 and bearing the number 400, this magnificent instrument is a perfect example of Daniel Lesueur's guitars at their finest. Undoubtedly inspired in its bracing by Daniel Friederich, we find the same character in the timbre and balance of this guitar. The power and warmth of the tones is astonishing, and the sound color possibilities are inspiring. This guitar is in very good condition with no cracks and was refinished a few years ago. With its exciting sound, this guitar takes us back to Paris and the golden age of French-built cedar top guitars with a refined, elegant, and expressive character.
