Danilo Bazzana - 2023 No. 60

Overview

Danilo Bazzana was born in Milan in 1985. At the age of thirteen, he started to play the guitar, which became one of his future passions. In April 2015 he opened his workshop in the center of Paderno Dugnano, where he alternates the construction of the classical guitar with the work of fine-tuning, restoration, and repair on any type of pinched instrument. He builds guitars of a traditional type, inspired by the great masters, paying close attention to the choice of materials of every single component of the instrument.

Emerging from the hands of the maestro, Danilo Bazzana's guitar is a masterclass in tactile responsiveness and tonal depth. With every touch, it responds, its elasticity delivering a myriad of tonal nuances that resonate with the heartbeat of music itself. Bazzana's dedication shines through in the meticulous crafting of the fingerboard, ensuring the pinnacle of comfort and playability for the artist. His fascination lies in the intimacy of guitar playing – a direct communion of fingers with strings, unhindered by external apparatuses like a piano's keys or a violin's bow.

Rooted in tradition, Bazzana believes that every component of his guitar "must vibrate in its entirety." This philosophy drives his uncompromising selection of materials, each chosen to contribute harmoniously to the instrument's sonic tapestry.

Reflecting his unwavering commitment to quality, this particular piece exemplifies Bazzana's signature craftsmanship. With a terrified spruce soundboard paired eloquently with classic Indian rosewood for the back and sides, its aesthetics are as compelling as its sound. Its lineage is unmistakably influenced by the revered French school of guitar-making, echoing the mastery found in the creations of luminaries such as Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich.

This instrument's playability is sublime, characterized by sustained notes that flow seamlessly, a balanced harmony among its voices, and a concert-worthy volume that captivates listeners. Its sound is crystalline and intricately layered, offering amplified projection and sharp distinction in its polyphonic harmonies. From classical to contemporary, every repertoire finds its voice, and is lifted to unparalleled heights, on this magnificent instrument.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
