Overview

Prof. Dr. Mario Sicca, born on 12th September 1930, began his career as an internationally renowned guitarist in 1962 by studying at the "Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien" in the class of Karl Scheit. In 1964 he had his first encounter with Robert Bouchet and in 1966 with Daniel Friederich. Since these times he has played almost exclusively on the guitars of the two most famous guitar makers in the world. Mario Sicca gave concerts with his "Duo Italiano Sicca - Fleres" in 21 countries and eventually became a professor of classical guitar at the Staatliche Hochschule in Karlsruhe and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellend Kunst Stuttgart.

His encounters with Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich left a lasting impression on Mario Sicca so that he began to devote himself with full passion to guitar making. Under the artist name 'Eriberto Ajevoli' - inspired by Bouchet and Friederich - he began to develop his own guitar models. Now 90 years old, Mario Sicca only He only builds a small number of guitars per year. They are 100% traditionally handmade without the aid of modern machines.

This great guitar built in 2020 and bearing the number 132 has a very interesting combination of woods. Spruce for the top, and Mahagony for back and sides have been used to build this instrument. Mahogany is an underrated tonewood for classical guitars. It gives a nice, quite earthy sound with a mellow sweet touch. The first and immediate impression is a light guitar with an impressive responsiveness. The timbre is clear and singing, both delicate and lyrical. As a result, it is an instrument suitable for many styles and repertoires. Moreover, it has a long and sweet, full-bodied sustain that inspires the guitarist to play in a musical way. Overall, a truly wonderful instrument, built in the style of Robert Bouchet.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
