Overview

Ermanno Chiavi was born and raised in Poschiavo, a valley in Southern Switzerland. He took an apprenticeship in the workshops of German master guitar builders G.K. Hannabach and M. Brunswicker, where he learned the art of guitar-making. Afterward, he attended a guitar-making course by the legendary guitar maker José Romanillos in Siguenza, Spain. He has been running his workshop in Zurich since 1985.

This unique guitar is truly a one-of-a-kind concert instrument packed with exciting features. The well-executed details and ornamentations are the result of Ermanno's exceptional craftsmanship. Not only that, but the thoughtful design also creates a beautiful concert instrument, aesthetically and acoustically. This Lattice-Model is made with a gorgeous spruce soundboard and very nice Indian rosewood back and sides, complemented by luxurious Alessi tuning machines with snakewood tuning knobs. Moreover, the idea behind the dual sound hole is that by dividing the sound hole on either side of the fretboard, there is more room for the top to vibrate. Due to its E primary resonance, this guitar has deep and dark basses, as well as clear and singing trebles. Furthermore, it has an excellent and natural-sounding audio system made by Boton (Hans-Rudolf Bossart). As a preloved instrument, this guitar shows only superficial playing marks and is ready for any concert situation.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
