Florian Chauvet Doubletop 2023 No. 052

Florian Chauvet Doubletop 2023 No. 052

Overview

Florian Chauvet is a highly skilled luthier with a multi-faceted background in music. He is a self-taught craftsman who began his journey in lutherie in the early 2000s and has since honed his skills through hands-on experience and ongoing learning. In addition to his practical training, he holds a degree in musicology from university and has formal classical guitar training from the conservatory.

As a concert performer for over 15 years, both as a soloist and as part of chamber music ensembles, Florian has a unique understanding of the needs of musicians in performance situations. This has led him to specialize in creating "double top" classical guitars, which are prized for their superior projection and even tonal quality across all registers.

With over ten years of experience producing his highly sought-after double-top model, Florian's work has been recognized by leading musicians in the field, including Tristan Manoukian, a professor at the prestigious CNSM in Paris. With his excellent craftsmanship, combined with his deep understanding of music and the needs of performers, Florian Chauvet is a truly promising luthier.

The sound of the Doubletop Model Nr. 52 is exceptional, offering a powerful and nuanced voice that sets it apart from other classical guitars. With its spruce soundboard and four-piece back construction, this guitar provides a sound that is both powerful and colorful, with clarity and transparency that is truly striking.

The back of the guitar is made from a four-piece construction, with Indian rosewood for the outer parts and Bosse (Guarea cedrata) for the inner parts. Indian rosewood is a prized material for guitar backs and sides due to its strong, clear tone and beautiful grain patterns. Bosse, a species of hardwood native to West and Central Africa, is known for its density, stability, and visually striking grain patterns. The combination of these materials provides a strong, clear, and balanced tonality for the guitar, resulting in a rich, warm sound with excellent projection. The first string, in particular, is noteworthy, with a singing quality that adds a special touch to any performance. Whether playing solo or as part of an ensemble, this guitar will provide a captivating voice that will inspire and impress.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
