Francisco Munoz - 2023 Modelo Especial 64 cm

Francisco Munoz - 2023 Modelo Especial 64 cm

Overview

Francisco Muñoz is one of the most outstanding guitar makers of the newer Spanish generation. Based in the historic city of Granada, the hometown of many important guitar makers and a source of inspiration for guitarists for many generations, Francisco Munoz gained international recognition for his outstanding work at the 2nd International “Antonio Marin Montero” Guitar Making Competition for which he was awarded the first prize.

The 2023 Francisco Munoz Alba "Especial Homenaje" guitar is a remarkable manifestation of the deserved reputation of its creator, revealing a stunning combination of artisanal dedication and high-level craftsmanship. This instrument exemplifies the elevated standards of Munoz's work and stands as a beautiful testament to the tradition and evolution of Spanish guitar-making. The Especial Homenaje model features a vibrant cedar soundboard, renowned for its dynamic range and rich tonal characteristics. Complementing this are the back and sides, crafted from strikingly straight-grain Indian rosewood. This selection of tonewoods ensures a balanced tonality that respects the heritage of the classical guitar while offering a unique voice. Acoustically, this guitar is a marvel. The treble strings deliver a swift attack with a unique bite, a characteristic often sought in the Spanish guitar style. These vivacious trebles are harmoniously balanced with the warmth and responsiveness of the basses, creating an engaging sonic landscape that is a joy to explore.
Moreover, the 64cm scale is a gift for a guitarist with a smaller hand. This instrument showcases the impressive capabilities of Francisco Munoz Alba, a representative of the talented young generation of guitar makers carrying forward the Spanish tradition. A true embodiment of a Spanish guitar, the "Especial Homenaje" model reflects Munoz's profound respect for the luthiery tradition while pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship and sound, a tribute worthy of the distinguished lineage of Spanish guitar-making.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
