Fritz Ober - 2017

Fritz Ober - 2017

Overview

Fritz Ober was born in Rosenheim in 1955 and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the 70’s based on guitar building books. Later he trained with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner and initially focused on the construction of lutes. According to his own statements, the skills he acquired were decisive for his approach to guitar making, which was inspired by old masters such as Antonio de Torres.

The 2017 Fritz Ober guitar represents the zenith of luthiery, a masterpiece preserved in pristine condition that highlights the luthier's unmatched skill and attention to detail. Its back, crafted from CITES certified Brazilian rosewood, not only enhances the guitar's visual allure but also significantly contributes to its sonic depth, offering a tonal richness that is both rare and captivating. The guitar's profound D air resonance, a result of its meticulously crafted traditional seven fan bracing, orchestrates a symphony of sounds. From the deep and elegant basses to the trebles that sing with a sweet clarity, this instrument invites players to explore a vast array of musical expressions, navigating through landscapes of sound that few guitars can genuinely provide.

Playing this Fritz Ober guitar is an experience in itself, offering an exceptional balance between different tones and an ease of play that is emblematic of Ober’s design philosophy. Known for crafting some of the most outstanding German guitars in recent times, this guitar holds a special place as the last period of Fritz Ober's distinguished career, adding sentimental value to its inherent quality. To own this guitar is to hold a piece of musical history, a testament to the enduring legacy of German craftsmanship in the realm of classical guitars. It's not merely an acquisition of a high-quality instrument but an embrace of a tradition that has been meticulously refined over decades, preserved through the hands of musicians who recognize and cherish the unparalleled craftsmanship of Fritz Ober.

Fritz Ober – 2017 Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
