About the luthier
As the son of a toymaker, Jake Fuller learned his craft skills in his father’s workshop. When he started playing classical guitar at the age of 16, he had the idea to combine his two interests, playing the guitar and working with wood. After graduating from London Guildhall University with a degree in musical instrument technology, he opened his own workshop. There he concentrated especially on the production of light Spanish Torres guitars.
About the guitar
This brand-new instrument by Jake Fuller is a highly unique traditional guitar, distinguished by the presence of a sound post—a concept borrowed from violin construction.
Similar to a violin, the sound post is positioned between the raised back bar and the harmonic bar beneath the soundhole. It is simply a piece of rigid wood that can be easily inserted and adjusted through the soundhole without the need to remove the strings or use any tools. The sound post is not a permanent structural element like in the violin family, but rather an optional feature that allows the player to subtly modify the guitar’s tonal response.
The spruce soundboard is reinforced with a traditional bracing system, consisting of three thin, almost parallel wide struts and four transverse struts located towards the lower bout—two on the bass side and two on the treble side.
Acoustically, this guitar offers a very focused and clear tone, giving the player excellent articulation and precision. Thanks to its lightweight construction, weighing only about 1,370 grams including the tuning machines, it also provides a remarkable sense of control and responsiveness.
