Their masterful instruments have been and continue to be played by music legends such as Julian Bream, Andres Segovia, Laurindo Almeida, Oscar Ghiglia, and José Luis Gonzales. Spanning five generations, the Ramirez dynasty has significantly shaped the history of classical guitar-making, starting with José Ramirez I, who trained numerous talented luthiers in his workshop.
José Ramirez III revolutionized guitar craftsmanship, particularly through his pioneering work with cedarwood tops. Under his direction, a new instrument was developed in the 1960s with a Western Red Cedar top and double sides. This innovative approach, coupled with the endorsement of Andrés Segovia, quickly influenced global guitar construction.
