Kristof Meeus - 2024 - Lattice Spruce

Overview

After a master in Sociology, Kristof Meeus joined the Centre for Musical instrument Building (CMB) in Puurs, Belgium, in 2006. Working in parallel in Walter Verreydt’s workshop, he very quickly gathered solid skills in guitar making. From 2012 on, Kristof started his career as an independent guitar maker. The CMB then recruited him as a teacher in 2016. As did the great painters for centuries, Kristof went for European travel to refine his knowledge and draw inspiration from his predecessor’s work. He, therefore, visited the collection of Gabriele Lodi, Lorenzo Frignani, Bruno Marlat, Antonio Marin, Rafael Moreno and many more, getting a global understanding of both the old masters and the modern classical guitar.

From the atelier of the esteemed luthier Kristof Meeus comes the 2024 concert model guitar, a masterful blend of classical craftsmanship and modern innovation. This instrument features an innovative lattice bracing pattern made from spruce, enhanced with cedar inlays at every junction, providing both strength and flexibility to the structure. Visually striking, the guitar boasts an intricately designed rosette that draws inspiration from the aesthetic style of the renowned Enrique Garcia, captivating anyone who lays eyes on it. Sonically, the guitar excels with a rich, velvety timbre that emerges instantaneously from the responsive soundboard, offering depth and sophistication in its acoustic output. Crafted with passion and meticulous attention to detail, this guitar is not just made but passionately birthed, making it a treasure for both seasoned virtuosos and those who appreciate exquisite musical artistry. It promises a profound journey of musical exploration and discovery.

Kristof Meeus 2024 Lattice-Spruce Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
