Overview
Michael Cadiz is native from Seattle, Washington, and recently moved his workshop to Graz, Austria. He is a mostly self-taught luthier, but feels profoundly grateful for Robert Ruck, who invited him to stay for a while in his workshop to share his philosophy and approach to guitar building. He also received a great support from the Seattle builders Rick Davis and Greg Oxrieder.
This guitar is the newest version of Michael’s Concert Model. The plantilla was designed by his own. It is a bit larger, but similar in proportion and curves to the Antonio de Torres SE114. The bracing was inspired by a 1962 Marcelo Barbero (hijo) guitar made in Archangel Fernandez’ workshop, that Michael had the chance to play and inspect extensively. It had a particularly explosive and alert character that truly impressed and inspired him. Every wooden part of the guitar is hand-made and worked by Michael: rosettes, purflings, bidings, etc. The finish is a traditional French polish of shellac and pumice.
This is a subtle and fine guitar with a great delicacy in the craftmanship. Its design reminds the great master-instruments of the nineteenth century, where all the beauty stands in skilful details. The sound of this guitar concord with its appearance. It is a sincere guitar with a defined attack, a great balance and a fine separation between the voices. This instrument has a clear sound projection thanks to the purity of its tone and the immediate sound production of the spruce-top. It is a great instrument for a mindful guitar player seeking for a subtle and truthful guitar. The tuning machines are Rubner superior series with roller bearings and black mother of pearl buttons. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.
