Michael Gee - 1991 No. 275

Michael Gee - 1991 No. 275

Overview

Michael Gee, inspired to craft Spanish guitars at age 11 after watching a film on guitar making, pursued his passion fervently. In 1974, he achieved the distinction of being the youngest student accepted into the full-time Instrument Making Course at the London College of Furniture. There, he trained under the esteemed Herbert Schwarz, eventually returning as a tutor to shape future guitar craftsmen. Setting up his maiden workshop in Nether Heyford in 1977, Michael quickly garnered attention and collaboration opportunities with figures like Richard Cobby and esteemed Luthier Martin Fleeson. Following his marriage to Andrea in 1981, he relocated his workshop to Earls Barton. Over the decades, Michael's impeccable craftsmanship led to global recognition, with over 600 guitars crafted in his Earls Barton workshop, each beloved by many illustrious players across the globe.

In the annals of masterful guitar craftsmanship, the 1991 Michael Gee "Limited Edition" stands as a testament to artistry and precision, hearkening back to the grandeur of renowned German guitar making traditions. Delicately adorned with a spruce top, this instrument boasts a visually arresting flamed maple back and sides, the intricacy of which is rarely seen in contemporary guitar designs.

Number 4 in an exclusive series of just six crafted by the master luthier himself, this instrument is a collector's dream, bearing the unique legacy and handwork of Michael Gee. Beyond its aesthetic allure, the guitar offers sonorous volume and crystalline clarity, attributes that elevate it to a realm of its own. Its natural resonance and tonality render it exceptionally versatile, making it an ideal choice for a diverse array of musical compositions.

For a guitar of its vintage, the condition is nothing short of remarkable. Exhibiting minimal signs of wear, it becomes evident that this pre-loved gem has been cherished, preserving its pristine aura.

In summation, the 1991 Michael Gee "Limited Edition" is not just an instrument, but a symphony of design, craftsmanship, and acoustic brilliance. For aficionados seeking unparalleled craftsmanship intertwined with historic lineage, this guitar represents the epitome of musical luxury.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
